I’ve got a brand new wordpress blog and the first post is some very exciting news to share.
My American Victorian romance, Cassidy’s War, is now complete and will be released from The Wild Rose Press on 1/13/12.
Here’s the blurb and an excerpt.
Blurb:
The Civil War is over, but Cassidy’s War is just beginning.
Cassidy Stuart longs to attend medical school. Training beside her physician father and serving as a nurse during the war, have only increased her desire to be a doctor with her own practice. When the man who’d left her at the altar returns, she’s determined not to let him upset the plans she’s set for herself.
Until his mission is accomplished, George Masters must hide his identity as a Pinkerton agent as he investigates a physician living in George’s former hometown, a short distance from Cassidy’s home. When he finds Cassidy hasn’t married, he hopes he can rekindle their love while trying to protect her and townsfolk from the evil Dr. Madison.
Can their love be renewed despite the villain’s desire for revenge against them both?
Excerpt:
“I saw you at the tavern last night. With him.”
She frowned.
He released his grip on her arm.
Taking a step away, she adjusted her felt hat. “Well, yes. I’m still trying to gather information, if you even care about the investigation anymore.”
He caught the ire in her tone. “Did you?”
She shook her head. “Not anything that will help.”
“I don’t want you involved in the investigation any longer. It’s too dangerous.”
“But we can’t just allow him to go free.” Her fists clenched.
“I didn’t say I’m abandoning the investigation, but there’s more to it than you know.”
Cassidy frowned. “What do you mean?”
He shook his head. “I can’t tell you right now…but I don’t want to see you anywhere near the man.” He raised a finger. “I mean it, Cassie.”
Her gaze darkened. He almost swore her eyes would spit fire. “I can’t promise anything, George. You aren’t being honest with me. How can I trust you? I’ll do what it takes until he’s brought down.”
He grasped her arm. “You are being reckless. If your mother knew the risk you take by allowing Madison to court you, she wouldn’t permit you to leave the house.”
What a beautiful cover. Congrats on your pending release.
Gorgeous cover and wonderful new blog and excerpt.
Thanks! I’m really excited since this not only will be my first post-Civil War romance, but the story is based on characters from a young adult Civil War story I had published years ago, but has now gone out of print.
Also, it’ll be my first new release since 2009.
You know how proud I am of your and getting your stories out there. You put me to shame. Best of luck with lots of sales, susan.
Hi Mary!
Wonderful website! I love the depth of your banner…it draws you right into the site. What a beautiful cover! Can’t wait to read it. I love Americana!
Oh, Susan. I cannot believe I wrote Hi Mary! when i saw the posted comment I went, huh? do not know where that came from. My only thought is that I have had a running bout of insomnia thiese past two months and after two nights of zero sleep, I am making stupid mistakes. Mea culpa. This has to go down in my book as one of the dumbest things I’ve done. 🙂
Thanks, Paisley and Kathleen! And Kathleen, don’t worry about it! It happens! I’ve done dumb things myself when leaving replies. lol
Susan, what a lovely cover! Congrats, and best of luck with Cassidy’s War!
